Cloth Cat Academy

We've had another jam packed month here at Cloth Cat Academy. The studio hosted courses in both Unity with Matt Griffiths and Toon Boom with Dani Abram.

We've had some great feedback which can be seen over on our instagram. Check out our reels to get a real feedback of what the courses entail and what our students are taking away from the sessions.

If you're interested on attending an Academy course soon, be sure to check the support section on our website in order to check your eligibility for any bursary funding.

A reminder to make sure you leave enough lead time when applying for any external funding prior to the course beginning in order for your applications to be processed by external bursaries. Media Cymru are also currently offering a Development fund for Freelancers. If eligible, this fund can support any time off you may require from current employment in order to attend training.

Welsh ICE Game Jam

Welsh ICE have been running an ambitious week long Game Jam at the end of March. Each day an industry mentor was on hand to offer advice and support to the teams.

Our Creative Producer Ben Cawthorne was Thursday's mentor and was really impressed with the setup and how much the four teams achieved, with lots of inspired ideas and thoughtful practice.

We look forward to more events like this in the future!

Annecy and Children's Media Conference

Looking ahead to the summer and we'll be heading to both Annecy and the Children's Media Conference later this year! Come and say hi if you're there. We'll be on the UK stand at Annecy.

Zaffi Zoo

In the summer of 2022, when we were still all working remotely, we collaborated with Sophie Deen and her team at Bright Little Labs on the charming pilot for their series, Zaffi Zoo! Following our success with using Blender for Secret Spring, we decided to make this our next Blender project and give ourselves more experience with full animation, character rigging, lighting and rendering.
