Brollyman

The original soundtrack for The Ghost of Midwinter was composed and produced by the Emmy award-winning composer Brollyman. We couldn’t be any more delighted with the enchanting score that he created. You can hear the soundtrack in it's entirety by watching Ysbryd yr Oerfel on iPlayer!

“To tell the story of The Ghost of Midwinter, I knew I’d need themes for different characters and scenarios. I also knew I wanted to work with a few actual human beings to help bring the score to life. So I started by spending a few days coming up with themes for Nia, the Ghost, the journey and love. I brought in violin player Liz Mulcahy Prendegast and cello player Rachel Shakespeare, and I played mandolins.

“The process was as it always is; long days in my studio ‘The Crows Nest’ with my cat Millie at my side, exploring the best way to musically ‘light’ each scene and help bring the emotion out of the story. Sometimes the musicians had to play beautifully and sometimes they had to play full of spite, and despite the challenge it was actually fun to write and develop these ideas. The score took roughly three weeks to write and I’m very pleased with it.”

- Brollyman
“Cloth Cat has worked on a number of projects with Brolly over the years, but this one certainly was the most personal and meaningful for us. We were still working on the animation when the first cues started to come through, so the entire crew got to hear the musical layers building as they revised their shots and brought further life to the characters.

"The soundtrack added a whole new sense of energy and vitality to the final few weeks of production; there was a real sense of dynamic collaboration with every review, motivating everybody involved to go above and beyond. We couldn’t have done it without Brolly!”

With its open, welcoming vibe, PGC London 2026 was a valuable and enjoyable conference with a truly global perspective on the future of the industry.
